Officially launched in March 2009, the most recent addition to the Metropolitan Tulsa Urban League is the Young Professionals (MTULYP) auxiliary. Aimed at attracting individuals ages 21 – 40 into the Urban League Movement, MTULYP is exploding onto the metro Tulsa scene.
MTULYP’s mission is to “Expose, Engage & Empower Communities of Color in Metro Tulsa!”

MTULYP is focused on two of the National Urban League’s Five Empowerment Agenda Points: (1) Education & Youth Empowerment & (2) Economic Empowerment
To insure maximum community impact, MTULYP plans include:
- Hosting the Black Executive Exchange Program (BEEP) with local universities. This program introduces and showcases Tulsa’s most prominent entrepreneurs and corporate executives of color to area high school and college students. Through this interaction, students gain invaluable insight and mentorship from Tulsa’s brightest industry leaders of color.
- Taking the National Urban League’s “Know Your Money” program into area high schools. Utilizing our partnership with GEAR-UP, MTULYP will help area high school students gain financial literacy and learn about corporate success, business ownership, wealth accumulation and philanthropy.
In addition, the MTULYP auxiliary is engaged in multiple community service and civic engagement projects in conjunction with the Metropolitan Tulsa Urban League and hosts a plethora of social activities for young professionals.
